Finger protection (for hot glue gun), fuzzy black fabric, Boys' Elastic Bottom Sweatpants (charcoal), Adult Eversoft® Fleece Sweatpants
Start with the spider legs!
Stuff four socks lightly with fiber fill leaving a little room (about an inch) at the opening of the sock so there is room to attach to the hoodie.

Seal the sock openings
Once your socks (spider legs) are stuffed to your liking, take the opening of the sock and roll the top edge inside. Apply hot glue to the inside rolled section and squeeze flat. You’ll do the same for the additional 3 socks.

Attach the legs to the sweatshirt
Lay the sweatshirt flat and place two socks on each side of your full zip hoodie under the sleeves. To connect the legs, apply glue to the closed end of the sock and attach that section to the side of the sweatshirt. Repeat until all socks (legs) are glued.

Now to keep the legs in place!
Lay a piece of fishing line between the spider legs and sleeve gaps on each side. Then cut these pieces – there will be 2 per side - and thread through starting with the top of the bottom sock and tie a knot. This piece connects to the bottom of the middle sock and then tie your second knot.

Secure the top legs
You’ll tie your second piece of fishing line to the top of the middle sock and knot it as well. Connect this piece to the bottom of your sleeve by threading it through the fabric. Tie a knot here as well to hold your line in place. Complete these same steps on the next side. Be sure to watch the video if the fishing line gets a little tricky.

Add the eyes
This spider has two eyes that you need to add, but feel free to add more! Find the center seam of the hood and lay your googly eyes on the garment. Check the placement, and if it looks good to you go for the glue.

Add fuzzy texture (optional)
If you want to take the spider costume up a notch, add fuzzy fabric to create texture on your spider legs.
Cut four strips of fuzzy fabric at roughly 18”x4” for a kids’ hoodie. Cut two more strips at the length of your sleeve plus an inch by four inches tall. Once all pieces are cut take the long edges of each piece of fabric and turn about a quarter inch over toward the back and hot glue this section down to give a sewn appearance.

Attach the fuzzy strips
Lay all your pieces in place on top of the socks and sleeves furry side up. To give the edges a clean and sewn look, tuck the end closest to the garment a quarter inch and hot glue this edge under.

Finish the fabric edges and glue in place
Take the unglued end and begin gluing it under in the same manner, but you’ll want to round out this tuck and glue a bit more than the previous areas you have glued. Once you have all edges tucked under and glued you can now glue each piece directly onto the sock or sleeve.

Your spider is complete!
There you have it - pretty easy spider that you can keep basic or take to the next level with fuzzy fabric. Pair with charcoal or black sweatpants or leggings to complete the eight legged spider.
